Wooster Farmers' Market opens, Artisan Day in Smithville

Disney's "Frozen Jr.," Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Green Middle School cafetorium, 200 Smithie Drive, Smithville. Shows are 7 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Saturday's matinee will be a sing-along and guests are invited to dress up as their favorite Frozen character. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door or in advance at www.greenlocaldrama.com.

Farmer's Market, 8 a.m.-noon, Saturday, downtown Wooster. The market takes place on North Market Street; local produces, bakers and crafters. Farmer's markets are every Saturday May-October.

Plant Faire, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Weymouth Preservation Society, Weymouth School, 3314 Myers Road, Medina. Annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, vegetables, herbs, gardening books and other items will be available. Rain or shine. Event, parking and restrooms are free of charge.

Grange Hall Fundraiser, 2 p.m. Saturday, Valley College Grange, 2411 Shreve Road, Wooster. There will be food and music by the Day of Pentecost Church of God. The funds raised will be used to help pay for two new stair lifts at Grange Hall.

Pro Wresting, 7 p.m. Saturday, Cornerstone Elementary School gymnasium, 101 W. Bowman St., Wooster; Dylan's Annual Awareness Fundraiser. Tickets can be purchased at the door, while Operation: Fandom, 120 S. Market St., Wooster, will have discounted advance tickets. Seven big-time matches, including a 15-man battle royal.

County Line Historical Museum open house, second Saturday of each month (Saturday), noon-3 p.m., 281 N. Market St., Shreve. Handicap parking at rear of museum, entering alley off East Robinson Street. Adults $2; children 12 and younger, free. Smithville Community Historical Society Artisan Day, 1:30-4 p.m. Sunday. Various artisans will be featured, including a wooden toy maker, wood carving, chair caning, wheelwright and weavers. An art exhibit of the works of award-winning Smithville High School art teacher Jennifer Winkler will be on display at the Heritage Center. All buildings in the historic village will be open to tour. There will be a vintage baseball game at 2 p.m. with the Smithville Stars and opponents, the Mansfield Independents.

Dueling Pianos, 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, The Connection Conference and Event Center, Country Club Road in Wooster. Tickets are $20 per person and include hors d'oeuvres, two drink tickets, five raffle tickets and the award winning Cleveland Keys Dueling Pianos entertainment. This is a fundraising event for The Counseling Center of Wayne and Holmes Counties.

Region 4 Airstream Rally, May 19-22, downtown Wooster. Up to 125 trailers will line the streets.

Swiss Steak Dinner, 4-7 p.m. Saturday, May 21, Beach City American Legion Hall Post 549, 125, Third Ave. NE. Drive-thru carryout only. Watch for signs where to enter. Meal includes three bean salad, applesauce, mashed potatoes/homemade gravy, corn, bread and dessert for the cost of $10.

Ladies Night Out, Thursday, May 26, downtown Wooster. Registration and Swag Bags begin at 4:45 at Studio 217.

HRN Firefighter Field Day, 9 a.m. Saturday, June 11, Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds. Firefighters’ Exhibition where firefighters from across the state take part in friendly competitions. Kids’ firefighter-themed activities where children ages 5-12 can imitate their heroes. Admission is free. The Wayne County Historical Society’s eight-building campus is open every Saturday, with tours at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults; free for those under 14. Special exhibits include “Votes for Women!”, “Apron Strings” and “A Season of Quilts: Spring.” The historical society is located at 546 E. Bowman St., Wooster. Storybook Trail at Kingwood Center Gardens, featuring "Good Night, Bat! Good Morning, Squirrel!," 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday, along the Nature Trail that begins at the Peacock Playhouse. General admission is $5 for 13 years and older; admission is free for children 12 years and younger, and for Kingwood members. The center is located at 50 N. Trimble Road, Mansfield.

Secrest Garden Fair, Saturday, June 11, Secrest Arboretum, 2122 Williams Road, Wooster. The juried event will promote handmade arts and crafts, plants and food. Applications are being accepted.
