The Wirecutter Deals team scans the virtual aisles of the internet, searching for great discounts on Wirecutter-recommended products so you don’t have to. In our deals blog posts (like this one), we highlight the discounts that we think Wirecutter readers will love. For more deals information, check out our Deals page, follow us on Twitter @WirecutterDeals, and subscribe to our daily deals newsletter. While a couple deals have expired, most of these deals are still available.

When the Wirecutter Deals team started scouring the internet for deals this morning, we couldn’t help but notice a ton of discounts on the gear you might need to take care of those in your life who need you most—your kids and your pets. And whether you’re shopping for toddler-size raincoats and strollers or automatic pet feeders and chew toys, one thing is for certain: That gear can be pricey. To help soften the blow, we’ve pulled together the best deals we’ve found on what you need to make life with your family members, furry or otherwise, easier.

Holly & Beau Color Changing Raincoat Deal price: $35 with code WIRECUTTER; street price: $45

Do your kids live to splash around in puddles on a rainy day? If so, you need to make sure they’re suited up in a coat that’s just as fun as their activity—and you can’t do much better than the Holly & Beau Color Changing Raincoat. Covered in fun patterns that change colors when it gets wet, this coat will keep your kids giggling until they tire themselves out. The Holly & Beau coat, which usually sells for $45, is now down to $35 through August 17. Just don’t forget to use the code WIRECUTTER at checkout to secure the discount.

Mountain Buggy Nano Stroller Deal price: $170; street price: $200

If you’re looking for a lightweight stroller that you can bring alone on socially distant day trips to the zoo or botanical gardens, the Mountain Buggy Nano Stroller is a solid option. The Mountain Buggy Nano is a basic stroller that lacks the bells and whistles of some of our more expensive picks, but it’s still functional and convenient. It’s light, easy to fold, and the only one of our picks that works with our infant car seat pick. Because of its smaller wheelbase, it’s also more agile than the competition and easier to turn. This is a rare deal on a stroller that doesn’t see many price drops, making now a great time to pick up a stroller that’ll get your kids where they want to go.

Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet (10th generation) Deal price: $60; street price: $90

A kid with a tablet is quieter than a kid without one—and when you’re spending lots of time under the same roof with no chance of escape, sometimes there’s nothing you crave more than the sound of silence. The newest Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet is a cheap tablet you won’t mind putting into your kids’ sticky hands. As the most recent iteration of the Fire HD 8, the Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020) has replaced the previous generation as our budget pick for the best Android tablet. It’s a considerable upgrade from the previous model, with more RAM and a faster processor, but most important, it's perfect for casual media consumption (like watching the same episode of Peppa Pig over and over again). With this tablet coming back down to the lowest price we’ve seen, now is a good time to pick up the newest Fire HD 8—here’s hoping it will keep the kids distracted for a while.

Best Friends by Sheri OrthoComfort Deep Dish Cuddler Deal price: $19; street price: $26

Unfortunately, the price of this item has risen and it's no longer a deal. For more deals information, check out our Deals page.

If your cat loves snuggling in bed with you but you’re not too keen on your kitty plopping down in the middle of the mattress night after night, offer your cat a super-soft bed they can’t refuse, like the Best Friends by Sheri OrthoComfort Deep Dish Cuddler. As the coziest bed we tested, this cat bed is a perfect option for a cuddly kitty or an older feline friend who needs the extra support. Though the extra-high lip of the bed is great for adding support (and creates that cozy, sinking sensation your pet will love), it could pose a problem for a cat with arthritis or mobility issues, so keep that in mind as you shop. If you’ve been considering picking up a new cat bed, this is a good time to take the plunge, as the Deep Dish Cuddler is down to the lowest price we’ve ever seen on it.

PupBox Subscription Deal price: $159 with code WCPUPBOX12; street price: $192

If you adopted a pandemic puppy recently, you’ve probably already realized how fast they grow—and how fast they shred through the expensive toys you’re constantly buying. Subscribing to PupBox might be a good option for you: The high-quality dog gear included in your box every month matures over time as your puppy grows. In addition to things like chew toys and teething rings, the box also includes training inserts rife with advice. Pet owners can even tailor their boxes based on their pup’s age, biological sex, weight class, coat length, and food allergies. If you’re looking to subscribe to a month-to-month subscription box like PupBox, now is the time to do it: When you use the code WCPUPBOX12 at checkout, you can get a six-month subscription for $159 or a 12-month subscription for $289 until the end of August.

PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed Automatic Feeder Deal price: $78; street price: $100

Automatic dispenser feeders are great for pet owners who like the idea of filling the dispenser every few weeks instead of lugging out a bag of kibble every night. The PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed Automatic Feeder is an easily programmed dispenser that’s harder for furry friends to topple over than the competition. The PetSafe automatic feeder holds more food than most, which is good for pet owners who want to set it and forget it, but not ideal for those who have pups or kitties on a diet (especially since in our tests it often dispensed a bit too much food). Still, we think this pick is a great option for pet owners looking for an automatic feeder—especially now that it’s on sale for the first time in over eight months for $78.

Dremel 7300-PT Dog Nail Grinder Deal price: $25; street price: $33

Update: Up an extra dollar to $25. You’ve already given your pups a quarantine haircut. (Good thing they can’t tell you what they think of your handiwork, right?) Next up: a pedicure. If you want to trim your dog’s nails, use the Dremel 7300-PT. As the top pick in our guide to the best electric nail grinder, the Dremel is safe, quiet, and affordable. It’s also cordless, which allows you to trim your pooch’s nails without the risk of getting tangled in cords. As long as you think your pup can tolerate an electric nail grinder, this is a great deal on an already affordable option. Just keep in mind that shipping is delayed by a week.

Bentgo Fresh Lunch Box Deal price: $20; street price: $30 Unfortunately, the price of this item has risen and it's no longer a deal. For more deals information, check out our Deals page.

If your kids hate when their food touches (and if they leave their plates full in protest), packing their lunch in a bento-style lunch box can prevent a meltdown. The Bentgo Fresh is a sturdy, plastic lunch box that offers the most convenient organization. It’s an especially good choice for kids because it’s the only bento box we tested that was leakproof, and its simple latches are easy to navigate for small fingers. With its removable, dishwasher-safe tray, it’s also one of the easiest bento boxes to clean. With the price now down to $20, this is a good opportunity to save a few bucks on a picky-eater-approved lunch box.

Classic 14.5″ Silver Base Lava Lamp Deal price: $12; street price: $15 Unfortunately, the price of this item has risen and it's no longer a deal. For more deals information, check out our Deals page.

Now that you’re spending more time at home, it can be all too easy to run out of things to do. Watching the blobs of wax move slowly around a lava lamp has the potential to captivate both you and your kids for a while. The Classic 14.5″ Silver Base Lava Lamp takes a while to warm up, but once it gets going, it transforms the mood of a room. This copacetic lava lamp rarely sees deals—in fact, this is only the second deal we’ve ever spotted. Though this mesmerizing green and blue lamp isn’t available to ship until August 23, we still think this is a good chance to save a few dollars on a toy that will keep the whole family entranced.
