The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office represents the Commonwealth in a myriad of cases in 12 district courts, 4 juvenile courts, and 2 superior courts located throughout the county.  Each court has its own designated team, staffed with talented and dedicated Assistant District Attorneys, Victim Witness Advocates, Paralegals and other professionals.

Victim Witness Advocates are assigned to work with assistant district attorneys in all of Middlesex County’s superior, district, and juvenile courts. In addition, specialized advocates are assigned to the Child Protection Unit, Elder and Disabled Persons Protection Unit, Appeals Bureau, Homicide and Unsolved Unit and the Domestic Violence Program.

The Community Partnerships Bureau is responsible for advancing the District Attorney’s public policy agenda through prevention and intervention programs, public-private partnerships, regional task forces, outreach and education, and county-wide awareness campaigns. The Bureau collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in an effort to improve the health and safety of those who live, work, and go to school in Middlesex County.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan is committed to innovative crime prevention and intervention initiatives. The District Attorney’s staff partners with community groups, educators, business owners, medical professionals, social service providers, and law enforcement officers to address a variety of public safety issues.

Acting as the voice of the office, the Communications Bureau is responsible for overseeing all public communication from the office, including media requests, writing and distributing press releases, and keeping the public informed of office initiatives, cases, and activities.

MELROSE – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Melrose Chief of Police Michael Lyle are seeking to identify the man pictured here in connection with an ongoing investigation into an incident where a brick was thrown into a window of a home on Lynn Fells Parkway in Melrose.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on May 21, 2022, the victim, who lives at the home, reported to police that a brick had been thrown through a window and that the message “just the beginning” was spray painted on the house. The victim also reported that three other properties located in New Hampshire had also recently been vandalized by brick throwing and spray painting. The victim informed police that the Melrose incident was captured on a Ring doorbell. That video can be viewed here. The images on the camera suggest that the suspect is a white male with a slender build, and may be approximately 5’10” tall.  The suspect is seen wearing a light blue hooded rain coat, khaki pants and black sneakers. The suspect is also wearing a blue-green backpack. After the brick is thrown, the suspect is seen fleeing the scene towards Lincoln Street in Melrose.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the victim, who works as a reporter at a New Hampshire media outlet, has been apparently targeted on a total of 5 separate occasions, including in Concord, Hampstead and Hanover, New Hampshire at residences connected to her.  As part of the ongoing investigation into this matter police are looking at her recent work to determine if there is any connection with the incidents of vandalism.

This is an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Melrose Police. Investigators are also working with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.
