Mangilao Donne’ Festival is from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sept.17 and 18 at the night market grounds. Food trucks, carnival games, dances from Guma’ I Mañe’lu and Talent Box, live music from Nate Delgado, Taj and The Radiants, the Donne’ Dinanche Competition and more will be happening throughout the night.

The Guam Nikkei Association is hosting their annual Lantern Festival Sept. 17 at Ypao Beach Park with COVID-19 as one of this year’s themes. Registration starts at 2 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m. the lanterns will be released into Tumon Bay. The event is free but donations are welcomed. 

Guam Unique Merchandise and Art and the Mayor's Council of Guam is hosting free workshops for Barrigada residents who are interested in starting a home-based business from 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 17 and 24 at the GCA Trades Academy. To register or for more information, visit www.gumaguam.com. 

TakeCare is hosting a health fair where free body composition measurements, blood pressure, random blood glucose, a brief diabetes risk survey and vision screenings will take place from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 17, Sept. 24, Nov. 5, Nov. 12, Nov. 19, Nov. 26, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10 at the Micronesia Mall at the former Dollar Discount store. Guam Cancer Care, St. Luke’s Medical Center in Manila, Philippines, Guam Diabetes Association, American Red Cross, ASC Trust and Guam Radiology Consultants will be present and provide information on their services.

Homer's epic Greek poem "The Iliad" gets a modern makeover on the University of Guam Theatre stage with the production of "An Iliad" the last two weekends of September.

Performed in oral storytelling tradition, UOG assistant theater professor Madison Scott tells the story of the Trojan War and its cost as the Poet. Joining her on stage is the Muse, played Shannon Dean San Nicolas. The show takes place at 7 p.m. Sept. 22-24 and Sept. 29-Oct. 1. General admission is $10, $20 for families (limited to two adults), free for UOG and Guam Community College students.

The Soroptimist International of the Marianas’ is hosting a karaoke fundraiser from 6-9 p.n. Sept. 23 at Three Squares Restaurant. Learn how to make ti leaf lei Sept. 24 at Valley of the Latte Adventure Park in Talo’fo’fo. The two-hour session starts at 9 a.m. and will be conducted outdoors. The University of Guam Press in partnership with Guam Focus on Life is hosting “Dry Nights” Open Mic Night from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 24 at Paniq45 in Tumon. In observance of Suicide Awareness Month writers are invited to share pieces that address suicide prevention and the mental health crisis on Guam. There will be free food and drinks for attendees and participants have a chance to win cash prizes with third place winning $100, second place $200, and first place $300. Those who wish to participate and showcase their poetry can email uogpress@triton.uog.edu. There are 15 spots available for performers and the deadline to register is Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022.
